June 1969

The Rev. David Brunscheen accepted the call and was installed as pastor on June 29, 1969, by Rev. A. Staby. Pastor Dave served until September, 1977.

Under Pastor Dave Brunscheen’s guidance, the congregation grew in numbers and in spirit. The welcoming spirit included serving coffee and refreshments after Sunday morning worship, a favorite tradition today.

New study programs were part of the Family Enrichment Program. The growing congregation installed new carpeting, folding doors in the Parish Hall for education areas, and in 1977, a new addition for classes and a new organ.

Changes while Pastor Dave Brunscheen served the congregation from 1969 to 1977 included new carpeting for the Parish Hall, given by the ALC Women. The parsonage at 2725 N. Fairmount was sold, giving the pastor a monthly housing allowance for his own home. Cub Scout Pack #510 was launched in March 1972.

The ALCW made lovely white and gold Chrismons for the Christmas tree that year. Soon a Family Enrichment Program begin with couples’ groups studying strengthening marriage. In 1973 folding doors were installed in the Parish education Wing. Bethel Bible Study Series began in 1975., and the 25th anniversary of the church was celebrated.
