Refugee and Immigration Summit

Refugee and Immigration Summit

Everyone interested in up-to-date information about immigration and refugee services is invited to a community forum hosted by the Immigrant Family Support Network, on Sunday, September 17, 2:00 – 4:30 p.m., Christ Lutheran Church. Speakers will include attorney Sandrine Lisk, Sunflower Community advocate Lupe Magdalena, and Pastor Ivan Gonzales of Mision San Juan de Dios (Partners Church, if his hospital chaplaincy schedule allows) and Debra Lee of Episcopal Migration Ministries. This free event will provide new and updated information to anyone who has questions about this issue. It will provide definitions, provide a face to “Dreamers” and those who are living here and undocumented and in fear of deportation as well as what happens when people are deported to their country of birth. It is directed towards the community at large, especially religious congregations. Families or persons of mixed documentation or undocumented are welcomed to participate but this is not at this time really directed to them. Expect displays by agencies serving refugees and immigrants. All are welcome, at Christ Lutheran Church, 5356 N. Hillside, Wichita.
