FIRST READING Exodus 28:1-5
1 “Then bring near to you your brother Aaron and his sons with him,
from among the Israelites, to serve me as priests—Aaron and Aaron’s
sons: Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. 2 You shall make sacred
vestments for the glorious adornment of your brother Aaron. 3 And you
shall speak to all who are skillful, whom I have endowed with skill, so
that they make Aaron’s vestments to consecrate him for my priesthood. 4
These are the vestments that they shall make: a breastpiece, an ephod, a
robe, a checkered tunic, a turban, and a sash. When they make these
sacred vestments for your brother Aaron and his sons to serve me as
priests, 5 they shall use gold, blue, purple, and crimson yarns and fine
linen.
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power; 11
put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against
the wiles of the devil, 12 for our struggle is not against blood and flesh
but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers
of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the
heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that
you may be able to withstand on the evil day and, having prevailed
against everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand, therefore, and belt your waist
with truth and put on the breastplate of righteousness 15 and lace up your
sandals in preparation for the gospel of peace. 16 With all of these, take
the shield of faith, with which you will be able to quench all the flaming
arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of
the Spirit, which is the word of God.
