After some transition in our government and among our local refugee ministries, we have some potential to rejuvenate our own little refugee ministry. The local organization (formerly known as EWARM or EMM) is now called St. Francis Migration Ministries and is under the umbrella of St. Francis Community Services. They are still looking for help and volunteers, and have invited our congregation to sponsor an incoming family (like we have done previously). Kendra Allison, their Volunteer & Donations Director, will be at Christ Lutheran on May 13 to answer any questions. This is an exciting and rewarding ministry as they are hoping to welcome families from the Congo, Eritrea, and
Myanmar over the coming months. This ministry will be open to anyone wanting to offer international relief without leaving Wichita and there will be lots of ways to help with this effort. Please watch the Take Home News over the next couple weeks as we work to set up an initial meeting date and training for interested volunteers. We will be meeting on Tuesday, May 22 at 6:30pm at Christ Lutheran for more information and training.
