Beginning Sep 9, 2012, we will be combining Sunday school and Worship with a Kid Friendly Service beginning at 9:45 every Sunday. This is in addition to our normal services at 8:30 (Contemporary), and 11:00 (Traditional) services. This service will be geared towards the youth of the church, however; the Confirmation and High School ages will still meet separately.
The new service will be a “No Shushing” Worship Service for the whole family. It will include singing, dancing, moving, laughing, praising, praying, sharing, celebrating, and learning…. and there will be no shushing. All family members are welcome at this service.
This is what the hour will look like beginning at 9:45:
GATHER - Meet in the sanctuary to songs led by the Praise Band. This will close with a child reading the prayer of the day and a verse for the day.
LISTENING - Children will leave the sanctuary and go to Sunday school classrooms where they will hear and learn the scripture lesson of the day in ways they can understand. While the children are in class, the families that remain in the sanctuary will hear the same story out of the Bible and a sermon. The children will return to the sanctuary after their class is finished.
FEASTING - Communion will be offered at this service every Sunday, and will begin with offering, prayers, confession, done in ways children can lead, participate in, and learn from.
SENDING - More songs & blessings will send the youth and their families out into the world fed, nourished, and empowered for serving the Lord:
Youth are growing up in faith, learning
the basic beliefs of Christians and the Lutheran church, and considering
what it means to live a Christian life.
7th & 8th grades will be taught by Terry Steinert (upstairs)
